Our Dari/Pashtu department in Bonn is looking for freelance multimedia journalists.

Deutsche Welle (DW) is Germany’s international broadcaster, providing multimedia news and information services in 30 languages worldwide. In addition, the DW Akademie trains media professionals in developing and transition countries. DW is based in Bonn and Berlin.

Our Dari/Pashtu department in Bonn is looking for freelance

multimedia journalists.

The tasks include

  • writing news stories for our webpage dw.com
  • adapting articles from German and English into Pashtu
  • editing video material
  • content layout for the webpage
  • producing and editing radio content


Requirements

  • academic qualification (Master/Bachelor Degree) and work experience in journalism
  • excellent knowledge of Pashtu (writing, reading and speaking), preferably mother tongue
  • work experience in print/online/radio
  • experience of working in a newsroom with a high content turnover and tight deadlines
  • sound knowledge of international news, especially European and Afghan issues
  • ability and willingness to work late shifts and weekends
  • good German and/or English language skills (reading and comprehension)


Freelance journalists will be scheduled for shifts on an individual basis following agreement between the department heads and the freelancer. Payment is based on the number of shifts worked.
