2003 Beethoven Festival in Bonn – the Fifth

This year, for the fifth time, DW is a media and co-partner of the Bonn International Beethoven Festival

DW-RADIO will present ten concerts in its programme during the festival from 20 September until 15 October 2003. DW's commitment also again includes the initiative to invite outstanding young musicians from all regions of the world to the Federal City. Following the Ukraine and Turkey, this year the invitation goes to Georgia, a nation with significant cultural traditions and diverse connections to Germany.

Under the patronage of Georgia's President Eduard Shevardnadze and German President Johannes Rau, the Tbilisi State Conservatory Orchestra will perform for the first time on 29 September in Bonn's Beethoven Hall. The concert will feature the world première of a new work by the Georgian composer Teimurasz Bakuradze, who will be handed this year's Deutsche Welle composition prize by DW Director-General Erik Bettermann.
