A Century of Fine Furniture: the Ursula Maier company

Ursula Maier Werkstätten has been making furniture for a century in the small town of Markgröningen in southwestern Germany. The company has been in the same family for four generations.

It was founded by Hermann Maier in Stuttgart, but attained renown under the leadership of Hermann Maier Jr., who took the helm in 1948. He invented various woodworking machines. His successor Ursula Maier expanded the operation to include a furniture shop and an interior-design studio. The staff number thirty and sales amount to three million euros a year. The current director is Ursula Maier's daughter, Sarah Maier.
