A Day in the Life of...Volker Hartjens

Volker Hartjens' job is to take care of the kit at Bundesliga club, Cologne. He's a part of the team and at the same time their biggest fan. It's a job that he picked with his heart not his head.

"You can't get any closer to the team", says the 39-year-old. Before the game, he makes sure the shirts are clean and that every stud is firmly screwed in. Forgetting even a minor detail could have disastrous consequences. This is a man with serious responsibility. We went along to see him in action as Cologne hosted Schalke.
