A new giant in the German banking sector could be in the making. According to the German magazine Manager, the insurance heavyweight Allianz is reportedly interested in a deal that would combine its Dresdner Bank subsidiary with two rivals. Analysts say consolidation is long overdue in the country's overcrowded banking industry.
