The first film in the Oscar-winning "Alien" saga fascinated global audiences in 1979. A new chapter in the sci-fi series is now set to hit theaters with "Alien: Covenant" - said to be the creepiest film yet.

With his latest installment in the "Alien" franchise, director Ridley Scott has relied on the same elements that made earlier chapters so successful. A remote planet, nasty aliens and a strong female lead role: all are present in "Alien: Covenant."

The movie, set to be released in Germany and the US next week, is the second in a planned four-part series telling the prequel story of the first "Alien" film.

In terms of plot timeline, the movie is set 10 years after the events told in "Prometheus," which came out in 2012.

A team led by Daniels (Katherine Waterston) explores a planet that, at first glance, seems to be paradise. Of course, they soon find out otherwise.

German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender of "Prometheus" is back once again, starring as the android Walter. And in contrast to the first prequel, this latest installment is packed with plenty of aliens in all their glory.
