While Cologne remains Germany's art and furniture capital, the publishing industry heads to Frankfurt and Leipzig's fairs. Music fans meet in Berlin.

Art Cologne is Germany's leading art fair, where many internationally renowned galleries show "a comprehensive overview of the art of the 20th and 21st centuries -- from modernism to the most recent works by contemporary artists." Some 50,000 visitors usually attend the fair.

Next dates: April 16 to April 20, 2008

The International Furniture Fair in Cologne (imm Cologne) calls itself "the world's leading trade fair for the furnishing sector." It features furniture, lighting, accessories, home textiles, carpets and other items for the home. In 2007, some 1,300 exhibitors from 57 countries and 115,000 visitors participated.

Next dates: Jan. 14 to Jan. 20, 2008

The Frankfurt Book Fair is the world's largest trade fair for books. The Catalan culture will feature as this year's guest of honor. More than 8,000 exhibitors from 114 countries participate and welcome more than 270,000 visitors.

Next dates: Oct. 10 to Oct. 14, 2007

The Leipzig Book Fair calls itself "the most important spring meeting for the book and media industry." About 1,900 exhibitors from 28 countries and 110,000 visitors attend the event.

Next dates: March 13 to March 16, 2008

Popkomm in Berlin is the "international business platform for music and entertainment." It attracts about 15,000 trade visitors and about 800 exhibitors.
