Stuttgart boasts pioneering architecture from a range of eras, from the Renaissance Altes Schloss to the Art Nouveau market hall and the postmodernist Neue Staatsgalerie. The cityscape thrives on such contrasts.

They feature icons of German car history, including a matte silver Porsche 356/1 roadster and a Mercedes 300 SL Coupé with red leather seats and gull wing doors.

Architect Hannes Schwertfeger gives us his insider tips on Stuttgart with a tour of the Neue Staatsgalerie, Schloss Solitude and the restaurant Weinstube Fröhlich.
