Things did not improve for the defending Bundesliga champions after they sacked Carlo Ancelotti during the week. With Willy Sagnol on the touchline, Bayern quickly established a 2-0 lead after 49 minutes.

But Hertha Berlin stormed back. Ondrej Duda scored his first career Bundesliga goal and Salomon Kalou put in another five minutes later. Things got worse for Bayern when Franck Ribery had to be helped off the field after catching his studs in the Olympiastadion turf.

Hertha's draw with the Bavarians was the second upset of the day. The first came in Freiburg as the home team upset Hoffenheim 3-2. Freiburg quickly turned around a 1-0 deficit as Florian Niederlechner and Caglar Soyoncu scored goals three minutes apart. Pascal Stenzel scored an insurance goal three minutes before added time, which was crucial as Julian Schuster allowed an own goal to slip through in stoppage time and ensure a nervy finish.

Cologne and Bremen are now the only teams not to have picked up a win this season. Cologne lost to Leipzig 2-1, their sixth loss in seven games. Lukas Klostermann and Yussuf Poulsen scored their first goals of the season as Yuya Osako headed in a consolation goal late in the game.

90' Fulltime!

90+1' SUB Bernardo replaces Bruma

75' Thunderous strike from Tim Handwerker from the edge of the penalty area, but Peter Gulasci punches it away.

46' Kickoff! We're back underway in Cologne!

45' Halftime!

44' Best chance of the game for Cologne! Leonardo Bittencourt dribbles past Lukas Klostermann and Dayot Upamecano and finds Milos Jojic at the top of the penalty area. Jojic's shot misses the target as Cologne's poor fortunes continue.

30' GOAL! Cologne 0-1 Leipzig! Lukas Kolstermann finishes his first Bundesliga goal after Emil Forsberg found his run.

29' Big save from Timo Horn! Marcel Halstenberg hits the post on a shot in the penalty area, and Horn stops the follow-up shot from Yussuf Poulsen.

25' A strong strike from Diego Demme is blocked by Matthias Lehmann in the penalty area. Appeals for handball go unheard.

18' Yuya Osako again! The Cologne forward connects on a cross from Leonardo Bittencourt. The header went straight into the hands of Peter Gulasci, but it got the Cologne fans out of their seats!

14' Yuya Osako has a chance in the six-yard box! The Japanese forward connects with a corner at the near post, but Peter Gulasci is there to stop it.

11' Dayot Upamecano hits Jhon Cordoba in the face as he tries to clear the ball away. Referee allows play to continue.

7' Lukas Klünter schools Marcel Halstenberg! The Cologne right back breaks free down the right and crosses the ball in, but Peter Gulasci picks the ball up before Yuya Osako can hit it home.

5' Konstantin Rausch commits a bad error for Cologne. His pass back to Frederick Sorensen is way off the mark. Emil Forsberg jumps on it, but Sorensen forces him off the ball before any damage can be done.

1' Kickoff!

Cologne vs. RB Leipzig

90+4' FULL TIME! Hertha BSC 2-2 Bayern Munich

For the first time in Bundesliga history, Bayern Munich throw away two-goal leads in two consecutive games. Reaction to follow on DW.

90' Into four minutes of stoppage time.

89' 66% possession for Bayern but they're doing very little with it.

87' Thiago plays Süle in behind the Hertha defense but Jarstein is well positioned to catch his cross.

86' Hertha sub. Haraguchi's slalom run led to Hertha's first goal but he looks exhausted now and is replaced by Alexander Esswein.

86' A more dangerous cross from Alaba this time but Jarstein punches clear

84' Hertha look tired and Bayern continue to move the ball back and forth, but it ultimately ends up with a harmless David Alaba cross.

80' Bayern's lack of ideas summed up by Tolisso firing over the bar from a frankly ridiculous distance. "Zieht den Bayern die Lederhosen aus!" sing the Hertha fans. "Pull Bayern's Lederhosen down ..." Their team has ten minutes to hold on.

79' Bayern sub. Niklas Süle replaces Jerome Boateng.

78' Lewandowski fires wide from just outside the box. No danger.

77' Müller flicks on to Lewandowski in the box but the Pole can't control it and Hertha have a goal-kick. Bayern look frustrated up front without the wide threat from Ribery and Robben.

74' Hertha's first venture forward in a while but Boateng clears the danger down the Hertha left.

73' Coman tries again, beating Weiser, but his cross is poor once again.

70' Tolisso feeds Coman down the Bayern left but his harmless cross is straight into the arms of Jarstein.

65' Ribery has been carried straight out of the stadium through the Marathontor and looks like he's straight off to hospital. It doesn't look good.

62' Franck Ribery withdraws injured after getting his studs caught in the turf. He limps off with assistance from Bayern's medical staff and iis replaced by compatriot Kingsley Coman. With Arjen Robben having made way for Thiago, two of Bayern's biggest attacking threats are now off the pitch.

60' For the second Bundesliga game in a row, Bayern Munich have given away a two-goal lead.

56' GOAL! Hertha BSC 2-2 Bayern Munich (Kalou)
What a comeback! Plattenhardt's free-kick is cushioned down into Kalou's path by Rekik (maybe with his hand?) and the Ivorian smashes home the equalizer! All square in the capital!

55' What Haraguchi can do, so can Ribery! The Frenchman dribbles past two Hertha defenders on the edge of the box but shoots well over.

53' Marvin Plattenhardt hits a free-kick over the bar for Hertha.

51' GOAL! Hertha BSC 1-2 Bayern Munich (Duda)
What a response from Hertha and it's all thanks to some outstanding work from Genki Haraguchi. The Japanese midfielder dances brilliantly past Ribery, past Boateng and past Hummels before crossing for Ondrej Duda to tap home. Game on.

49' GOAL! Hertha BSC 0-2 Bayern Munich (Lewandowski)
Lewandowski beats Niklas Stark in the air to a relatively harmless ball forward from Corentin Tolisso and finishes past Jarstein from close range.

THE SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY

HALF-TIME! Hertha BSC 0-1 Bayern Munich

44' A long ball from Boateng is nodded down by Lewandowski to Ribery. The Frenchman plays the ball back to the Pole but he shoots wide

40' Mitchell Weiser advances down the right for Hertha and crosses low for Kalou who shoots over.

37' Bayern close again after Lewandowski again finds space in that left-hand channel, he fools Jarstein but Stark clears at the last moment.

35' Off the line! Lewandowski rounds Jarstein and chips towards goal from a narrow angle but  gets back to clear it off the line!

33' Another chance for Hertha. Kalou dribbles into the box and goes to ground under pressure from Alaba. The ball falls to Darida but Ulreich saves.

31' Müller wins a corner for Bayern right in front of the travelling support. Ribery's delivery is good and Martinez heads just over. He'll be disappointed not to have hit the target, there.

27' Müller, Lewandowski and Kimmich combine on the right hand side to win a corner which Kimmich swings in to the near post but Boateng can only head wide.

19' PENALTY CANCELLED BY VAR
Martinez challenges Darida in the area and the referee points to the spot before consulting with the VAR in Cologne. After three whole minutes of standing around while the referee then consults his pitchside screen, it's decided that Martinez played the ball. Ultimately a correct decision but it's taking far too long and this writer is far from convinced.

Chants of "Scheiß DFB!" echo around the ground from both sets of fans. Waiting around for a video referee to make a correct decision might be ok for fans watching on TV but does nothing for match-going supporters in the stadia.

16' PENALTY FOR HERTHA

15' Chance for Hertha! Darida skips into the box and has time and space but he drags his shot wide. That really should have been 1-1.

10' GOAL! Hertha BSC 0-1 Bayern Munich (Hummels)
Kimmich's free-kick is easily cleared but it falls to Jerome Boateng whose cross finds Mats Hummels in tons of space in the box and the defender heads past Jarstein! It's the first goal of the post-Ancelotti era and who would've predicted Boateng and Hummels combining to score it ...

6' First big chance for Bayern as Javi Martinez plays Robert Lewandowski in down the left. The Pole cuts back and crosses low for Thomas Müller but the troubled German international miscues.

KICK-OFF! The Olympiastadion in Berlin is full for once because Bayern Munich are in town. An early Ribery header is easily gathered up by Rune Jarstein in the Hertha goal.

Bayern Munich team news. Caretaker coach Willy Sagnol places Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben back in the starting XI while Thiago and James drop to the bench. Attack, attack, attack for Bayern.

Attention now turns away from the south-west to the capital in Germany's north-east! It's Hertha BSC vs Bayern Munich as the champions begin life after Ancelotti.

What a game in Freiburg and a deserved first win of the season for Christian Streich's men. The double-burden of European competition seems to be taking its toll on Julian Nagelsmann's team.

FULL TIME! Freiburg 3-2 Hoffenheim

90+4' Kath wins a throw-in for Freiburg deep in the Hoffenheim half. Freiburg will want to keep the ball here.

90+3' A long throw is booted clear by Freiburg, but the ball is pumped back in, and headed clear. The Freiburg goal is under siege as the ball falls to Ochs at the back post. He has time and space but snatches at his shot and fires over. What a chance!

90+1' GOAL! Freiburg 3-2 Hoffenheim (Schuster OG)
Ochs heads back across the Freiburg goal and Schuster can only bundle the ball over his own goalline. Hoffenheim must have four minutes here to find an equalizer! Drama!

90' Into four minutes of stoppage time. Freiburg haven't beaten Hoffenheim in over five years.

87' GOAL! Freiburg 3-1 Hoffenheim (Stenzel)
Nils Petersen feeds Pascal Stenzel on the right hand side of the penalty area and Stenzel fires a textbook low drive into the bottom corner. Hoffenheim have pressed and pressed in this second half but Freiburg have always maintained a threat on the counter-attack and they've been rewarded. That should be enough for Christian Streich's team's first win of the season!

83' The next effort for Hoffenheim! Kramaric with a long-range effort which Scholow again tips expertly over the bar. Florian Niederlechner is replaced by Florian Kath. Some outstanding football from both teams this afternoon in a sold-out Schwarzwaldstadion.

82' Ravet attempts to lob Baumann from the half-way line! The Hoffenheim keeper was way off his line but Ravet doesn't get enough height on his effort. Ambitious!

80' Good ball in from the Freiburg right but Ravet (on for Terrazzino) just can't stretch enough to reach it. It's been an entertaining second half in the Black Forest. Can Freiburg defend their lead for ten more minutes?

78' Stenzel with a long-range effort for Freiburg but it's easy enough for Baumann.

77' Sandro Wagner is injured but Julian Nagelsmann has already used all three substitutes. Wagner and Nagelsmann discuss on the sideline ... they've decided to put the inhibited Wagner up front with Hübner playing off him, supposedly to latch onto any long balls that Wagner can win.

73' Hoffenheim claims for a penalty after Kaderabek goes down after challenging Günter, but the referee waves away the appeals. Günter stood strong and Kaderabek bounced off him. No penalty for us, either.

66' After Geiger's double effort for Freiburg, now it's Kaderabek turn for Hoffenheim. His first effort is blocked and he fires the rebound high and wide.

56' Corner for Freiburg is cleared out to Geiger who has two bites at the cherry but both are blocked, resulting in another Freiburg corner which is fired in low and Baumann somehow scrambles the ball off his line at the near post! End to end stuff at the start of the second half here.

54' What an effort from Philipp Ochs! A stinging volley from the Hoffenheim youngster but Schwolow pulls off a fantastic save! Top quality from both players, there.

50' Kramaric cuts inside and shoots from a tight angle but Schwolow is equal to it.

We're back underway for the second half. Freiburg 2-1 Hoffenheim

HT Freiburg 2-1 Hoffenheim - An eventful and entertaining half comes to an end. That sets up the second half perfectly and we could be in for a couple more goals yet.

45' There will be four added minutes at the end of the first half.

43' Freiburg ending the half on a high here, really pushing for a third.

40' Ochs comes on to replace the injured goalscorer, Hack.

38' Horrible moment here as Hack clashes heads with his own teammate. Hack has stayed down and won't be able to continue. He walks off the field but is very dazed and confused.

33' Tempers fraying here as Hübner catches Neiderlechner late and it causes a kerfuffle among several players. Hübner walks away with a caution.

27' Freiburg's Stenzel and Hoffenheim's Wagner start pushing each other and the referee is having none of it, issuing them both with yellows.

23' A breathless start here, where Freiburg have reacted brilliantly to going behind. The home crowd loving the turnaround, and Hoffenheim need to steady the ship here.

19' GOAL! Freiburg 2-1 Hoffenheim - Soyüncu gives Freiburg the lead! There may not be a cloud in the sky but it's raining goals in Freiburg! Soyüncu meets a corner from the left and heads in. Three goals in five minutes and it's 2-1 Freiburg!

15' GOAL! Freiburg 1-1 Hoffenheim - Rupp equalizes! Or is it? Freiburg level almost straight from the restart! A cross from the left isn't dealt with by Hoffenheim and it falls to Rupp, who keeps his composure to cut inside Zuber and finishes beyond Baumann. 1-1!

14' GOAL! Freiburg 0-1 Hoffenheim - Hack scores! Hoffenheim lead and the goal comes from Hack, who races through and fires a low shot beyond Schwolow. That's silenced the home fans and this looks like another miserable afternoon for Freiburg.

10' Hoffenheim feeling their way into this now. They've got to grips with Freiburg, who started well.

5' A solid enough start here by Freiburg, who are trying to dictate the game. So far Hoffenheim are just sitting back and soaking it up - only a 20 meter effort by Haberer has had Hoffenheim concerned.

1' KICK OFF! We're underway in sunny Freiburg!

13.25 Five minutes until kick off and we're almost ready to go in Baden-Württemberg.

13.20 And here's how Hoffenheim line up...

13:15 The Freiburg XI...

13.10 Lets catch up with the team news from Freiburg...

13.00 CET Here we go again for another Sunday double-header! We start with Freiburg vs. Hoffenheim at the Schwarzwald Stadion, with Freiburg really in need of a victory to kickstart their season. Later, Bayern Munich look to ease their crisis with victory in the capital, where they take on Hertha Berlin in the first game since Carlo Ancelotti was fired as Bayern coach.
