Bayern's Kahn Tells Hamburg to Cool It

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Oliver Kahn has told SV Hamburg not to get carried away by their 2-0 win on Saturday, claiming the title will still end up in the Bayern trophy cabinet. Hamburg triumphed 2-0 to end Bayern record run of 15 consecutive league wins prompting manager Thomas Doll and his players to celebrate by dancing in a huge circle in front of their fans at the AOL-Arena. "Hamburg celebrated like they had already won the championship," explained Kahn. "But we are still top and let's see who is celebrating in May." Bayern are one point ahead at the summit after seven games but Hamburg's sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer believes the reigning champions are running scared. "The fact that Kahn said we celebrated like we won the title tells me Bayern are taking us seriously," said Beiersdorfer. "That is quite nice because in the past they have only said that about (Werder) Bremen and (Bayer) Leverkusen." Hamburg have not won a major trophy since lifting the domestic cup in 1987 but Bayern president Franz Beckenbauer believes the six-time German champions pose a real threat. "Hamburg are now Bayern's main competitors for the title," declared Beckenbauer.
