The young journalists convinced the Junge Akademie’s jury with their one-and-a-half minute film and were awarded second place. The short film by Lina Hartwieg, Jan-Peter Horns, Amalia Oganjanyan, Emmy Chirchir and Oscar Schlenker looked at the global economy crisis.

The Junge Akademie is a joint project of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, and assists promising young scholars. The ‘Prize Question’ has been posed annually since 2001 and is endowed with a total of 9,000 Euros.

During the Asia Media Summit held at the end of May in Beijing, Deutsche Welle was recognized for its long-standing partnership with the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD). DW-AKADEMIE director, Gerda Meuer, accepted the award. Deutsche Welle and AIBD have been conducting workshops and consultations together in many parts of Asia for the past 20 years.

AIBD holds the Asia Media Summit (AMS) every year. It is the largest gathering of media representatives, journalists, politicians and academics from almost all countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Europe. This year’s conference motto was “Creativity, Credibility, Rights and Responsibilities.”
