The capital's three airports had a record number of passengers in 2004. Customer numbers at Schönefeld, Tegel and Tempelhof airport rose by more than 13 percent to around 15 million, a spokesman for the airports said Tuesday. Schönefeld Airport, in particular, saw a large increase to 3.4 million passengers -- double as many as the previous year. The airports also gained additional connections, including 32 new European destinations. Berlin now ranks third in Germany -- behind Frankfurt and Munich -- for flights to eastern Europe.
