Berlin's Housing Market - Skyrocketing Prices and Rents

Nowhere in Germany are rents rising as steeply as in Berlin, and prices for apartments are also on the up, jumping by up to 35 percent in just one year. Made in Germany talked to both real estate agents and apartment hunters.

They say buyers will pay just about any price, and more than 200 applicants for a single rental property are not uncommon. There seems to be no end in sight to the price explosion. What are the causes of the skyrocketing housing prices?
