Bundesliga Matchday 24: as it happened

February 24, 2018

Bayern could only earn a point at home against a stubborn Hertha Berlin side. Stuttgart defeated Eintracht Frankfurt and Gladbach picked up three points in Hannover while Hoffenheim and Freiburg shared the spoils.

Full time - That concludes the 15.30 CET games. The Nordderby is still to come at 18.30 CET.

It's all over in Munich - A valiant display from Hertha Berlin. They never looked like scoring, or even getting out of their own half, but they earn a well-deserved point. Bayern widen their lead at the top of the table to 20 points with Dortmund still to play this weekend.

91' Robben hits a powerful freekick but Rune Jarstein is equal to it. Hertha are refusing to buckle.

84' Hertha are parking the bus dreadfully but, if they can earn a point, who cares? Surely they can't keep this up.

72' GOAL! What a stunning goal that was! Gladbach work the ball smartly around outside the Hannover box. It eventually finds its way to Christoph Kramer, who pops the ball up and unleashes a fierce volley into the top corner from 25 yards. That has to be a contender for goal of the season.

72' Sandro Wagner joins the action, replacing Franck Ribery. Bayern have looked listless thus far, they need a big performance from the striker.

66' GOAL! Nils Petersen does what he does best and lashes a penalty home for Freiburg. Well struck and low to the keeper's right. It had been the captain himself who was brought down in the area, under a clumsy challenge from Kevin Vogt.

57' GOAL! What a goal! Andrej Kraramic steps up to float a stunning freekick over the Freiburg wall and into the back of the net. Hoffenheim lead 1-0, and coach Julian Nagelsmann looks delighted with that. Cracking stuff.

50' David Alaba goes close with a freekick from the edge of the area but Rune Jarstein parries low to his left. Robben picks out Lewandowski moments later but the Pole's attempt is blocked.

45' The second half is underway.

Half time — Stuttgart's first half strike against Frankfurt is the day's only goal so far.

Hoffenheim 0-0 Freiburg
Stuttgart 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
Hannover 0-0 Borussia Mönchengladbach
Bayern 0-0 Hertha Berlin

42' GOAL DISALLOWED! VAR steps in to rule out Sébastien Haller's close range finish after the Frankfurt striker was deemed to have strayed offside. Good call.

35' Big miss by Ribery! Robben puts it on a plate for the Frenchman, who sends his shot over the bar! He lays on the ground looking at the sky in disbelief that he's missed that.

25' Lewandowski, who's making his 250th Bundesliga appearance today, forces a good save out of Jarstein.

18' Bayern totally dominating the ball and work it down the left to Ribery, who flashes a cross right in front of the Hertha goal. All it needed was a touch, but no one was there.

13' GOAL! Stuttgart 1-0 Frankfurt (Thommy 13') — Stuttgart lead and it's a calamitous goal from Frankfurt's perpective. Mario Gomez rounds the keeper and his shot is blocked on the line by Russ, but the ball comes back off the inside of the post and falls at the feet of Thommy, who taps into the empty net.

5' Bayern enjoying plenty of the ball and they've just created their first real chance, which feel to Thiago Alcantara. The Spaniard lets fly from distance but the ball flies just wide of the post, much to the relief of Rune Jarstein in the Hertha goal.
