Chilean presidential elections go to run-off

Beate ThomsenNovember 18, 2013

The first round of voting in the Chilean presidential elections has failed to produce an outright winner. Michelle Bachelet fell just just short of the 50% of votes needed to avoid a run-off. Her closest rival, conservative candidate Evelyn Matthei, received about 25% of the vote. The two women will face off in a second round of voting in December.
