Yan Yiming, a lawyer from Shanghai, demanded that the Chinese government open its books and publish details of its expenditure on Wednesday -- usually only very sketchy information tends to be released. The Reuters news agency reported, that Yan, who has made a name for himself by fighting for more transparency in Chinese companies, had even indicated he might file a lawsuit against the finance ministry if his application was rejected.
