"Schumann at Pier2" is the second feature-length documentary directed by Christian Berger.

His film "The Beethoven Project" appeared in 2010, to the acclaim of audiences at several international film festivals. It was broadcast worldwide on Deutsche Welle television, as well as on the European culture channel 3sat, and also appeared as a DVD published by Sony Music.

Christian Berger is a journalist and programme editor with the 'Society and Documentaries' Department of Deutsche Welle. He has been involved in the award-winning documentaries "Kent Nagano conducts Classical Masterpieces" (2006) and "The Promise of Music – Gustavo Dudamel and the story of the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela" (2008). He has a wide range of television experience, as a reporter for Deutsche Welle’s magazine programmes. He has also directed documentaries and reportages such as "An Injection of Life – On the Road with Medecins sans Frontieres" (1997), "A Force for Good - Dietrich Bonhoeffer and the Resistance" (1996) and "Georg Elser - The Carpenter who tried to kill Hitler" (1995).

Christian Berger graduated from the Technical University of Berlin with a degree as a Media Consultant. He gained experience as a production assistant on film and television productions and as an editorial intern with German broadcaster ZDF’s film department "Das Kleine Fernsehspiel".
