Cyclist Klöden Considering Changing Teams

Andreas Klöden, one of Germany's top cyclists and the second-place winner of this year's Tour de France, is considering changing teams, according to a statement he made to Eurosport at this year's Vuelta race in Spain. It seems Klöden, who has long been a member of the T-Mobile team under the leadership of Jan Ullrich, would like to take over the role of captain himself. "I have been thinking about it, and I could imagine serving as captain for a team abroad," said the 29-year-old cyclist. Some say Klöden's comments could be a ploy to force the hand of the T-Mobile team management while he is still engaged in contract negotiations for the coming year -- he is reported to be demanding up to €1.5 million ($1.8 million). With the T-Mobile team having lost three other high-profile members in recent days, it is possible that management will make an effort to keep Klöden in Germany.
