Hans and Lindsey Spandaw's 18th century thatched roof farmhouse is in the small town of Kranenburg on the German-Dutch border. Spandaw and his family have lived here since 2010. A financial auditor from the Netherlands, he partly modernized it, but also kept many essential features. For example, the beams are still original. They've supported the roof for more than 200 years.
