German stock market operator Deutsche Börse said Monday its supervisory board had officially appointed Swiss stock exchange (SWX) chief Reto Francioni as its new chief executive, a position that had remained vacant since May. Francioni, 50, would take up his new position as Deutsche Börse chief "at the earliest possible date," the German company said in a statement, without specifying further. Francioni is replacing former chairman Werner Seifert, who was ousted by rebel shareholders in a spectacular boardroom coup in May. The supervisory board also appointed Kurt Viermetz as its new chairman, taking over that position from Rolf Breuer, who resigned at the end of the meeting on Monday, the statement said.
