Deutsche Telekom Can't Raise Prices on Customers

Germany’s telecoms regulatory agency ruled on Thursday that Deutsche Telekom can’t charge customers higher prices to set up their phone lines. As part of efforts to reduce the company’s debt, Europe’s largest telecoms firm proposed providing less service in setting up a phone line while at the same time charging a higher price. The 51.57 euro ($51.31) price wouldn’t cover laying the phone line in the apartment or paying technicians for house visits. The Bonn-based Regulations Authority for Telecommunications and Mail ruled against the proposal, saying it invited “price increase abuse.”
