# The founder of the whistleblowing website Wikileaks has defended his publication of more than 400 000 secret US military files.. saying victims and tax payers have a right to know the truth about the Iraq war. Julian Assange says the documents show that the United States failed to investigate torture and other abuses during the conflict. The documents also suggest at least 15 thousand civilian deaths in Iraq have gone unreported. The US has condemned the release of the files saying it endangers US troops.
