The two-part film by Reiner Schild and Anja Freyhoff-King has been honored with the top prize in the "Art, Music and Culture" sub-category of the "TV Documentaries and Reports" category at the third annual Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards.

"Machine Music - Four Decades of German Electronic and Dance Music" documents the evolution of electronic pop music in Germany. Starting from the genre's beginnings in the 1970s with pioneer band Kraftwerk, it covers its development up to the present day and its influence also on famous non-German bands such as Depeche Mode or Pet Shop Boys. With its mixture of music videos, live and file footage and interviews with the leading protagonists, the story explores the reasons for German electro-pop's worldwide success.

The film was released in 2010 as part of the Deutsche Beats project and broadcast on DW TV channels targeting Europe, Africa, North America, Latin America, the Arab world and Asia.

The Golden Dolphin is the fourth award for the film, which also won prizes in 2011 at the Hugo Television Awards in Chicago, the World Media Festival in Hamburg and at the WorldFest in Houston.

The Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards saw a record number of entries this year, with 666 submissions from 35 countries worldwide.
