At a meeting in New Delhi, DW's Director General Peter Limbourg and Prasar Bharati CEO Jawhar Sircar signed two MOUs with regards to future programming. The first represents a major step towards creating new programming, with a coproduction of DW's award-winning show Euromaxx in Hindi. The second MOU extends the rights to dub DW's Hindi science program Manthan into other languages spoken in India. Prasar Bharati also used this meeting to sign a licensing agreement that includes content from DW Transtel's catalog.

"This intensified cooperation will help increase understanding on both sides. The daily magazine Euromaxx provides a unique perspective on European lifestyle and is extremely popular with viewers worldwide. We think it will be successful in Hindi as well," said Limbourg, adding: "There is an enormous amount of interest in India for our TV content and German culture in general, which makes this an important step in our collaboration."

Referring to the new agreements, Sircar said: "This opens a new chapter in Indo-German relationship where public broadcasting is concerned and Indians would love to see programs like '50 years of Bundesliga' and 'The Olympic Sports'. Indian viewers would also get to watch quality content on European lifestyle. We have a special relationship with Deutsche Welle and we hope it will lead to more mutually beneficial broadcasting collaborations."

Prasar Bharati is a public organization that oversees the two major public broadcasters in India, Doordarshan and All India Radio (AIR). DW has partnered with Prasar Bharati in the past, most notably on the creation of Manthan – a science program produced in Hindi for Doordashan. Manthan has been broadcast since 2012 on DD-1 in India.
