Georg Baselitz Turns 75
We're at a special exhibition at the Essl Museum near Vienna to profile Baselitz, one of the world's most famous contemporary artists. The museum is previewing works that Baselitz created between 1968 and 2012. Born in what was to become East Germany, Baselitz eventually moved to West Germany where his art became very controversial. Eventually, though, Baselitz found fame and fortune.
Riding in Style
Highbrow ski resorts in the Austrian Alps are finding their well-heeled clientele increasingly harder to please. In the Hochzillertal they now have a luxury cable car lift complete with surround-sound, champagne, and heated seats designed to draw well-heeled skiiers from far and wide.
Metalhead Vintner
Michael Schott is a young German vintner who's striking quite a chord in the western Nahe wine-region. The heavy metal fan doesn't just sing in a metal band, he's now following in the footsteps of veteran bands like Motörhead and AC/DC by bottling his wines in packaging designed to appeal to fans of the music genre.
The Treaty of Friendship
In January 1963, Germany and France signed the Élysée Treaty of reconciliation which helped lay the groundwork for a new era of cooperation between the two countries. To mark this milestone Euromaxx meets German and French nationals pursuing creative careers in the respective "other country". This time French Journalist Cécile Calla tells us what it's been like living in Berlin for 10 years.
