The Scrooser

Dresden-based business consultant Jens Thieme developed the scrooser which looks like a big scooter. Powered by an electric motor it can reach speeds of 25 kilometers an hour. It's allowed on bikeways and even sidewalks in Germany but not on the street.

Aston Martin Centenary

The Aston Martin made its international breakthrough in 1964 when it appeared in the James Bond movie Goldfinger. It was first built under the name Bamford and Martin in 1913 and renamed Aston Martin in 1914.

Reinhold Messner found fame as the first person to conquer all of the world's 8,000 meter high peaks without oxygen. Now he is attracting tourists to his native South Tyrol for a Messner Mountain Week of less extreme mountaineering.

Matteo Thun has designed everything from cups and cutlery to luxury homes and hotels. Despite his international fame, the Italian architect remains down-to-earth. A photo book has just been published covering the multi-talented man's range of designs.
