2013 DW euromaxx highlights

In this edition: Food blogs, spa-hopping in Iceland, the lacy fashions of designer Irene Luft, master body painting, and mountain hiking in Germany.

Call of the Wild

Hiking has never been more popular in Germany. Nearly half the population regularly heads off for the great outdoors. We join a course that teaches the skills you need to get up and down the mountain safely.

The Fascination of Food Blogs

We portray one of Europe's best food bloggers - known as Frau Ziii of Austria. Her blog is Ziiikocht, Austria's most popular food blog. Ziii's real name is Susanne Zimmel, and she writes about cooking, home grown herbs and family life from her home in Mödling, near Vienna.

Spa-hopping in Iceland

Geothermal spas and springs are very popular in Iceland where both locals and tourists like to take a dip in the hot water. Unnur Valdís Kristjánsdóttir gives us a tour of some of these hot spots, including the Blue Lagoon spa, one of Iceland's biggest tourist magnets. But she also shows us some out-of-the-way places.

The Lace Creations of Fashion Designer Irene Luft

Munich-based fashion designer Irene Luft is giving lace an upgrade. She makes luscious lace creations and beautiful embroidery. In fact, more and more people are buying outfits with lace. We see Luft in action at Berlin Fashion Week as well as in Plauen, which is known as the City of Lace.

Master Body Painter

His models are largely naked - and then again they aren't. Johannes Stötter is top of his field in the rather obscure art of camouflage body painting. The Italian artist cloaks the human form in patterns from nature. Human beings have been his canvases for twelve years. We caught up with him in the Ridnauntal Valley.
