The house of Romanov was the second and last imperial dynasty to rule over Russia. Romanov rule began in 1613 with the crowning of Mikhail Romanov in Kostroma north of Moscow - and ended when Tsar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate in 1917. For the 400th anniversary we took in an exhibition of Romanov treasures that led us back to their origin.
