The 33-year-old joined Bayern from Olympique Marseille in 2007. He has made 333 appearances, scoring 108 goals and setting up 164, including Arjen Robben’s winning goal in the 2013 Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

“Six German championship titles, five Cup triumphs, the Champions League, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup: Bayern’s biggest triumphs in the last few years are closely linked to Franck Ribery,” chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

“He’s both a key player and a crowd pleaser so we’re happy to have extended Franck’s contract by another year,” he added.

Ribery said he was “looking forward to many more beautiful moments together with the Bayern fans. I want to play my part in the team’s success.”
