German Federal Prosecutor Kay Nehm has sharply criticized the decision of the Hamburg higher regional court to free suspected al Qaeda operative Abdelghani Mzoudi. Nehm told German public broadcaster ARD that it would have been better for the court to have taken a day to assess the credibility of the evidence coming from an anonymous witness, believed to be suspected Sept. 11 coordinator Ramzi Binalshibh, before making any decision. The general attorney also questioned the decision to use Federal Office of Criminal Investigation (BKA) documents that were faxed to the court before proceedings began on Thursday morning.
