Big Raspberry for 'Fifty Shades'

February 28, 2016

The box office hit "Fifty Shades of Grey" has received the dubious honor of a Golden Raspberry. The tongue-in-cheek ceremony also bestowed Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne with the worst actor prize.

The successful erotic drama "Fifty Shades of Grey" walked away with the most awards late Saturday, as the Golden Raspberries, or Razzies, marked their annual celebration of the worst in Hollywood on the eve of the Oscars.

"Fifty Shades" stole the show with the awards for worst screenplay and worst actor and actress for stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, and tied with critically panned superhero adventure "Fantastic Four" for worst film. Dornan and Johnson were also "honored" with the title of worst screen combo.

The latest attempt to reboot the "Fantastic Four" saga was also named "worst remake, rip-off or sequel," while director Josh Trank was named worst in his field.

Kaley Cuoco of the popular television series "Big Bang Theory" was given the worst supporting actress Razzie for her roles in "The Wedding Ringer" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks 4: Road Chip."

Oscar winner nabs the anti-Oscar

The worst supporting actor win was none other than Eddie Redmayne for the Wachowski-sibling sci-fi flop "Jupiter Ascending," one year after he took home an Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything," and one night before he was nominated again for transgender drama "The Danish Girl."

One award of the night bore positive news, however, as Sylvester Stallone won the "Razzie Redeemer" prize for his Oscar-nominated performance as the iconic, aging boxer Rocky Balboa in "Creed." He was given the award for going from an "all-time Razzie champ to 2015 award contender."

Few winners actually appear to collect their awards, which are selected by 943 voting jury members who pay a small fee to participate in the fun. However, in 2010 - the same year she won an Academy Award for "The Blind Side" - Sandra Bullock claimed her spray-painted Golden Raspberry for worst actress after her turn in the dismally received romantic comedy "All About Steve."
