And efforts to boost the proportion of energy generated by wind turbines are intensifying. At the moment wind energy accounts for about four percent of Germany's power needs. The goal is to increase that to 25 percent by 2025. But you can't cover the country with wind turbines, so windparks are going offshore. The first one is being built 45 kilometers off Borkum on Germany's North Sea coast. It's due to come on stream in the autumn. And its already generating profits for many companies in the region.
