The Spanish regions of Andalusia and Murcia were hard hit on Friday by torrential rains and flash floods.

The water came after months of drought, flooding streets and homes, forcing highway  closures and disrupting public transport.

Some 600 residents have reportedly been evacuated from their homes in Andalusia.

The state weather agency AEMET said up to 245 liters (65 gallons) of water per square meter (11 square feet) had fallen in the area on Friday morning alone.
