President Wulff urges Turks to 'actively integrate' in Germany

Immigrants in any country should adopt their new homeland's way of life. Fluency in the language of the new country is an absolute must and should be a condition of entry. Even in my small country, down at the bottom of the world, we are headed in the direction of those at the top of the world ... better for people stay in their own country and fix the problems there than to travel the world and contribute to the downfall of every country they inhabit. -- Kay, New Zealand

The media keeps misinterpreting what Chancellor Merkel has said concerning multiculturalism. She said that the "approach" taken in Germany toward multiculturalism had failed, not multiculturalism itself. To say multiculturalism has failed is a very unwise, untrue, and discouraging message to send out into the global community. Perhaps Germany, as well as many other nations, needs to re-evaluate assimilation and acculturation and how diverse groups of people may achieve common national and international goals without losing personal identity and even celebrating it at times. -- Darrell, US

It is my belief that if one chooses to take resources from a foreign society, then the one taking should give back more by enforcing the traditions and resources of the society which they joined. After all, there is a reason for having left one's own society and country. Therefore to moving oneself to another country, then insisting that the new location should serve the new inhabitants by changing, is counter productive. Germany is Germany, and in present successful due to Germany's past, present and very bright future. -- Dan, US

Bravo President Wulff. Immigrants should respect their adopted countries' laws and customs and adapt to them. If the immigrant does not wish to accept the laws then it is apparent they made a bad decision when they chose to immigrate. -- Celine, US
