Varun Gandhi, a great-grandson of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru has been accused of making inflammatory comments against Muslims in his speeches during the campaign for the election due to take place in April and May.

The 29 year old leader is a candidate of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He has denied the allegations, calling it a political conspiracy.
