German Air Traffic Controllers Allowed to Strike

German air traffic controllers can legally go on strike, a Frankfurt court has ruled. The state-owned aviation control agency (DFS) had filed a complaint with the court, saying that a strike could cause havoc at airports and prevent hundreds of thousands of Germans from flying during summer vacations. Air traffic controllers had threatened to strike, because they want DFS to recognize them as a negotiating partner during labor talks. Spokespeople for the controllers said they did not plan on striking immediately but first wanted to give DFS a chance to change positions. However, on Thursday, the court ruled in favor of the controllers.
