The German death toll from the Indian Ocean tsunami in December has risen to 349, the foreign ministry said on Wednesday, making it the country's highest from a natural disaster since floods killed 340 people in Hamburg in 1962. An estimated 221 people are still missing and the toll is likely to increase further as more bodies are identified through DNA tests. More than 270,000 people were killed around the Indian Ocean on December 26 after an earthquake off Indonesia's northwest coast triggered massive tidal waves.
