German Economy Shows Signs of Life

The German economy experienced a significant recovery in the last quarter of 2003, according to a statement released by the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW) in Berlin on Tuesday. The economy grew by .5 percent compared to the previous quarter, that represents a .3 percent increase over growth figures for the third quarter of 2003. The driving force behind the growth, say experts at the institute, was exports, primarily U.S.-sales of German products.
