German Inflation Set to Pick up in July

Inflation in Germany, the eurozone's biggest economy, looked set to pick up in July, with consumer prices in key regional states rising somewhat faster this month than they did last month, data showed on Friday. In the eastern state of Saxony, the consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.3 percent on a 12-month basis this month, faster than the 2.0 percent recorded in June. And in the neighboring state of Brandenburg, 12-month inflation also picked up slightly to 2.3 percent in July from 2.2 percent in June. Regional cost of living data from six so-called indicator states -- Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Brandenburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony -- are used to calculate preliminary
