Germans Prepare To Lead Force

German and Dutch troops began a trip on Monday that will end with their assuming command of the International Security Assistance Force in the Afghan capital of Kabul. The two countries are to take over the operation on Feb. 10 from Turkey. Because of the new assignment, Germany will more than double its number of troops assigned to the force from about 1,200 to 2,500. The Germans are to complete the deployment sometime in March.
