The German national team has revealed where the team's base camp will be held during the European Championships in France next year, should the team qualify for the tournament. Four qualification matches remain, but in the announcement made on Thursday, the German FA (DFB) revealed that early planning is important.

The team's camp will be held at the 'Hotel Ermitage', a four-star hotel built in 1909. The hotel was renovated in 2010 and the complex, which includes 80 rooms, 11 conference rooms and a hotel spa, overlooks the town of Evian-les-Bains, 125 meters above Lake Geneva in a 19-hectare park.

In a statement, the DFB said that more detailed planning will take place once qualification is confirmed. "After the experience of previous tournaments, we know that at an early stage, we need to plan ahead. Compactness and short distances to cover are important for us and in Evian, we have found these perfect conditions."

A picturesque setting

The camp is just 45 kilometers from Geneva airport and three from Evian-les-Bains town center. The training ground "Stade Camille Fournier" and the hotel are only about 1000 meters apart.

"In the Hotel Ermitage, we have excellent conditions to work in," the statement continued. "Lake Geneva and the Alps offer an impressive panorama. The proximity to the town of Evian and good working conditions for the media, who will accompany us, are other bonuses."

Teams from the Premier League, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga have been based at the complex for preseason training in the past, Olympique Lyon and Mainz are just two examples.

The Mayor of Evian-les-Bains, Marc Francina says: "Evian is known for its exceptional location and the citizens of our city are very keen on sports, so we are proud that the DFB has selected accommodation for the national team here. We wish the German team all the best in their qualifying campaign and will do our utmost to be good hosts for them next summer. "
