Fewer women fill managerial positions in Germany than in six other European countries, a comparative study has revealed. Only five percent of Germany's top managers are women, 14 percent are in middle management and 19 percent are lower level managers. Most women managers work in finance, personnel or sales and marketing. Two-thirds of the 932 firms surveyed said the low number of women was due to a lack of candidates. Slightly more than one-quarter attributed the situation to the business culture. More than 90 percent of the men surveyed said they could imagine having a female boss.
