Germany has pledged €1.2 million ($1.4 million) in aid to help Afghan refugees and others needing help coping with the coming winter months. The Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that the focus of the donations would go towards providing various non-governmental organisations with tarpaulins, quilts and blankets to refugees and the internally displaced as well as widows, orphans and the sick, and to medical charities in the capital Kabul and beyond. The money raises the total of Germany's contribution to humanitarian aid for Afghanistan this year to €3.7 million euros.
