Germany’s Federal Labor Office has started an online employment service in an effort to improve its job placement services. On Monday, the Labor Office officially opened www.arbeitsagentur.de According to the Berliner Zeitung, there are already 350,000 positions and two million job-seekers registered on the website. The move to Internet job placement is seen as a key to revamping the massive government agency into a modern and efficient job placement service. With a weak economy and generous welfare benefits, Germany has suffered chronically high unemployment for years. The jobless rate currently hovers around 10 percent of the entire workforce.
