Germany to Fly Nationals Out of Ivory Coast

The German government is preparing to fly its nationals out of Ivory Coast. Around 170 Germans live in the West African state, many of whom are married to locals, foreign ministry spokesman Walter Lindner said in Berlin on Wednesday. The ministry expects that about 40 Germans will want to leave the country. In cooperation with other European states, the German government has already made provisions to fly out Germans and other Europeans who wish to leave the country which has been shaken up by violent unrest directed against the French. France started flying out some of the roughly 14,000 French nationals who live in Ivory Coast on Tuesday.
