Germany's longest suspension bridge

Tourists from around the world flock to this suspension foot bridge in the Hunsrück, which according to a survey by the German National Tourist Board is more popular than the Hofbräuhaus brewery in Munich.

So where do we find this bridge with the name of Geierlay? It is hidden in the Hunsrück region. The structure, over 360 meters (1,200 ft.), spans the forested valley of a Moselle tributary between Mörsdorf and Sosberg. 

A good year after it was opened the bridge has proven to be a success. A web camera has already counted more than 370,000 tourists. And in a recent survey by the German National Tourist Board in which some 40,000 visitors from 66 different countries where asked what their most popular travel destination in German was it was ranked at position 85 in the top 100, proving more popular than the Nürburgring racing track, Munich's Hofbräuhaus brewery and the North Sea island of Sylt. 

Germany's longest suspension foot bridge not only offers spectacular views, the Geierlay can also be incorporated easily into more extensive walks including the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig which runs right underneath the bridge.
