Hamburg will be part of the World Festival of Humanity, a pop fest aimed at promoting international understanding set to take place in September. A record-breaking audience of 3 billion people is expected to take part in the event, which will also be broadcast via satellite and over the Internet. Other cities participating include New York, Rio, Beijing and Capetown. In Hamburg, 50 bands and soloists are expected – though an exact program has not been announced. The event is taking place under the auspices of the British-based Humanitad foundation, whose patrons include former U.S. President Bill Clinton and German President Johannes Rau.
