My favorite - The Didos

Dakito Atestata is a chief and spiritual leader of the Shekacho in Ethiopia. His most important task is saving the sacred forest of his people from destruction. The Sheka forest is one of the last tropical forests in the country and is its "life, lungs and soul." It is sacred for the Shekacho.
But human settlements are encroaching on the area and the need for firewood is threatening the didos - sacred groves in the forest.

With all the talk of endangered species, the value of biodiversity and the usefulness of ecosystems we sometimes forget why plants and animals are really worth protecting: because we love them, or depend on them for our very own wellbeing.
