Greece wants to be among the nations leading the way in the newly enlarged EU, the Greek prime minister said. "We want to be among the avant-garde of the European Union through reinforced cooperation," Costas Caramanlis said in an interview with Le Monde. "Although I am in favor of enlargement, I cannot imagine that in a large Europe, everyone will advance at the same speed. The countries that believe in a strong Europe have to form an avant-garde."
