Hot air balloons over Tegernsee

February 1, 2016

For 10 days, hot air balloons float through the Bavarian sky in Bad Wiessee. The 16th Tegernseer Tal Montgolfiade runs until February 7, with several highlights still to come.

The unique glow from the balloons is a special sight to see. The flames from the burners give the 20 hot air balloons a warm red light in the evening sky. Visitors also have the opportunity every day to ride along in the balloons for a spectacular view of the Tegernsee landscape from above.
Around 50 artists and exhibitors present their products along the waterfront promenade in Bad Wiessee to the sound of live music and other entertainment.

The name Montgolfiade comes from the Montgolfier brothers, who invented the hot air balloon. Other famous German festivals take place in Bad Homburg, Münster and Düsseldorf.
